PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cable conveying apparatus which can efficiently move a drum on which a cable before straining is wound up to a predetermined location on a bridge girder under construction, during construction of a cable stayed bridge. SOLUTION: According to the structure of the cable conveying apparatus, two transverse beams 1 are borne on the bridge girder 8 which has been partially constructed, in a direction almost at right angles to a bridge girder axial line, and distal ends of the transverse beams are overhung from a side edge of the bridge girder in a cantilevered manner. Then a hoisting device 2 for hoisting the drum arranged under the bridge girder up to a location higher than an upper surface of the bridge girder between the two transverse beams, is arranged on overhanging portions of the transverse beams, from the side edge. Further first tracks 5 are laid on the transverse beams, and a traveling carriage 3 for moving to a location under the drum hoisted by the hoisting device, to load the drum thereon, and moving on the transverse beams, is arranged on the tracks. The traveling carriage has first wheels for traveling on the transverse beams, second wheels for traveling on second tracks laid in a bridge girder axial direction, and a plurality of jacks for supporting the traveling carriage on the bridge girder, and replacing the traveling carriage from the first tracks to the second tracks.
