PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve timing adjusting device, with reduction in man-hours and manufacturing cost in simple constitution. SOLUTION: The valve timing adjusting device 10 is provided with a housing 11, a vane rotor 16, a spring 26, and a stopper piston 30. In the spring 26, an end part 261 is locked to the vane rotor 16, and an end part 262 is locked to the housing 11. With an intersection point O<SB>1</SB>between a supposed plane perpendicular to the axis of the vane rotor 16 and the axis of the vane rotor 16, an intersection point O<SB>2</SB>between the supposed plane and the axis of the stopper piston 30, a point P<SB>1</SB>as an abutment point of the end part 261 to the vane rotor 16 projected on the supposed surface, and a point P<SB>2</SB>as an abutment point of the end part 262 to the housing 11 projected on the supposed surface, and for an intersection angleθ°between a bisector L1 to the angle between an O<SB>1</SB>-P<SB>1</SB>line and an O<SB>1</SB>-P<SB>2</SB>line and a perpendicular line L<SB>2</SB>to an O<SB>1</SB>-O<SB>2</SB>line passing O1, locations of the end part 261 and the end part 262 are set to be 0≤θ<45.
