A sugar derivative preparation which contains an Aphanothece sacrum-derived specific sugar derivative G1 or G2 as an active ingredient and is used for various functional purposes such as water absorption, antimicrobial use, anticancer use, promotion of health for food and increase of viscosity as a cosmetic composition, a food composition, a pharmaceutical composition, a material composition and the like. Accordingly, a novel and useful sugar derivative preparation containing an Aphanothece sacrum-derived sugar derivative is provided.
