Dental glass comprises (wt.%): silicon oxide (50-70), aluminum oxide (5-18), magnesium oxide (6.1-30), lanthanum oxide (1-15), tungsten oxide (1-15), zirconium oxide (0.1-8) and optionally other oxides except for those of strontium, barium and alkali metals. An independent claim is also included for producing dental glass by producing a melt with the above composition, producing a glass frit by cooling the melt, precomminuting the glass frit, and fine grinding to a powder.
