An apparatus and a method for resource allocation in a broadband wireless communication system are provided to reduce the size of resource allocation information by decreasing the information quantity for resource area indication. Resource scheduling is performed(601), and a resource region is allocated to a user(603). Based on a hybrid resource structure, a node ID corresponding to the allocation resource region is determined(605). The resource allocation information including the determined node number is configured(607). The configured resource allocation information is transmitted to a user, and includes at least one of a user ID, a node number and coding information.
