<p>A method for performing inter RAT handover is provided to reduce the time taken for handover by allowing an MS(Mobile Station) to perform a previous registration procedure in a target base station before performing the handover. When the channel quality values of neighboring cells exceed a threshold value, a terminal performs the previous registration in a target base station through tunneling(202,203). When the channel quality values of neighboring cells are larger than the handover threshold value for a certain time and the channel quality values of the target base station are larger than the handover threshold value(204), a handover request message is transmitted to a serving base station.</p> |
