The invention provides compositions and methods for prevention and treatment of diseases associated with ²-amyloid formation and/or aggregation. Such methods encompass the induction of an immune response against N-terminal truncated and/or post-translationally modified A² peptides. These peptides are further used in compositions and methods for the diagnosis of diseases associated with ²-amyloid formation and/or aggregation.
