<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an anomaly detector for accurately determining whether or not an alternator for vehicles is faulty even though the connecting state of an electric load or the state of a battery changes. <P>SOLUTION: A generation controller 2 for vehicles includes analog-to-digital converters 204, 205 and a microcomputer 206. The analog-to-digital converters detect the period Tb of the output voltage of a generator 1 for vehicles equipped with a polyphase armature winding 101 and a rectifier 103 for rectifying the polyphase output of this armature winding 101. Further, they detect the period Tp of voltage occurring in any phase winding of the armature winding 101.
