PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle behavior detector correctly detecting the unstable state of a vehicle without erroneous determination even if a travelling environment is abnormal. SOLUTION: This vehicle behavior detector includes: a road surface reaction torque detection means 23 detecting a road surface reaction torque received by the tire of the vehicle from a road surface; a steering angle detection means 21 detecting the steering angle of the vehicle; a vehicle speed detection means 22 detecting the speed of the vehicle; a reference road surface reaction torque calculation means 24 calculating a reference road surface reaction torque from the detected values of the steering angle and vehicle speed; a vehicle behavior state detection means 26 detecting the unstable state of the vehicle; and a vehicle behavior detection prohibition means 25 canceling the vehicle behavior state detection means 26 based on the detected value of the road surface reaction torque and the calculated value of the reference road surface reaction torque.
