AUTHENTICATION SYSTEM, INFORMATION EQUIPMENT, AUTHENTICATION METHOD, AND PROGRAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To utilize a network service requiring user authentication based on a predetermined authentication method even from information household electric equipment not adapted to the predetermined authentication method.

SOLUTION: An authentication system includes: a means for receiving a user authentication request from a first piece of information equipment not having a function adapting to the predetermined authentication method; a means for determining a second piece of information equipment having a function adapted to the predetermined authentication method, as proxy authentication equipment of the first piece of information equipment; a means for notifying the first piece of information equipment of a proxy authentication request including identification information on the second piece of information equipment; and a means for receiving user authentication information from the second piece of information equipment, performing user authentication based on the predetermined authentication method on the basis of the user authentication information, and determining success in user authentication related to the user authentication request from the first piece of information equipment when the user authentication has been successful.
