PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projector capable of realizing a clock function without using an internal power source. SOLUTION: The present invention relates to a projector 3 for forming and projecting an image corresponding to inputted image data, comprising: a time acquiring means 33 for acquiring time information from an external device (PC) 2 which is connected the relevant projector 3 and includes time information relating to the present time; a time setting means 34 for setting the present time on the basis of the time information acquired; and a time measuring means 35 for starting measuring the time from the current time that has been set. Thus, the present time is set based on the information acquired from the external device, and the measurement of time is started from the relevant present time, so that, without requiring an internal power source for holding the present time, the present time can be held by the projector 3.
