PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an alarm which prevents reduction of the life of a battery from the time of shipment to the time of setting, is easy to use, highly reliable and low cost. SOLUTION: A switch 15 receives power-supply electricity output from batteries 11, 12; interrupts supply of the power-supply electricity if turned off before the beginning of use; if operated into an on state at the beginning time of use, the on state is self-held, so that the power-supply electricity is supplied. A fire detection portion 21 and a gas detection portion 22 operate on the power-supply electricity and detect trouble which occurs in a monitored area. A detection process portion 33 operates on the power-supply electricity and outputs an alarm signal based on detection results from the fire detection portion 21 and the gas detection portion 22.
