A method and a system for providing a phone searching service are provided to search a terminal matched with ideal type reference information among the terminals placed within the regional range corresponding to avatar information. A first terminal(101) transmits avatar information and ideal type reference information, and an HLR(Home Location Register)(130) stores the location information that requests the searching of a terminal. A search server(160) receives the information of a terminal from the location register. The terminal is placed within the regional range corresponding to the avatar information, and the search server searches whether or not the user profile information of the terminal is matched with the ideal reference information.
