<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform instantaneous water heating at a low cost by replacing hot water in a hot water delivery pipe in a circulation pathway with boiled water in a hot water supply system. <P>SOLUTION: This hot water supply system 1 includes a water heater 2, the hot water delivery pipe 4, a return pipe 5 branched from the hot water delivery pipe 4 and connected to a water heater 2, a hot water delivery pump 51, and a control section 6 for controlling the water heater 2 and the like. The control section 6 has an inner volume holding section 61 holding a value of an inner volume of the hot water delivery pipe 4. The control section 6 sets a length of an operation time of a circulating operation necessary for replacing the hot water in the hot water delivery pipe 4 with the hot water boiled by the water heater 2 on the basis of the value of the inner volume and a hot water flow rate of the hot water delivery pump 51. As the control section 6 replaces only the hot water in the hot water delivery pipe 4 with the boiled hot water by performing the circulating operation, and the hot water in the return pipe 5 is not replaced, wasteful circulating operation can be prevented, and operation cost for instantaneous water heating can be reduced.
