PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a circuit breaker which attains a long service life of a rapid make mechanism in which a pole-closing speed of a contact point portion is sped up. SOLUTION: A switching mechanism 9 includes a link mechanism which makes slide a second rotating axis 21 in accordance with a handle operation and makes a contact point portion 6 contacted and separated by rotating a movable contact point arm 22 around a second rotating axis 21, a contact pressure spring 32 which energizes an opposite side portion of a movable contact point 8 toward the second rotating axis 21 in the movable contact point arm 22, and a stop bar 31 of which the one end is locked with a guide groove 10c of a handle 10 and stops a rotation of the movable contact point arm 22 when a rotating angle of the handle 10 from an OFF position is more than a first rotating angle and less than a second rotating angle and opens the stop status when it becomes more than the second angle. The guide groove 10c is arranged in a position so that directions of a load rendered on a locking portion inside the guide groove 10c from the movable contact point arm 22 become reversed, when the rotating angle becomes more than the first rotating angle and less than the second rotating angle, and when it becomes the second rotating angle.
