PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging lens which has a lens barrel structure with a short overall lens length, is compact and excels in portability and optical performance. SOLUTION: The imaging lens includes: a first lens group GR1 having positive refractive power, which moves from the image plane side to the object side when performing switching from infinity focusing to short range focusing; and a second lens group GR2 having negative refractive power, which is fixed to the image plane. The first lens group GR 1 includes a negative first lens L1 that is disposed most closely to the image side and has a strong concave face directed to the image side. The second lens group GR2 is composed of negative lenses L6 and L7 in which two lenses, positive and negative, are cemented such that a strong concave face is directed to the image side. When the focal distance of the entire system at the infinity focusing is fi, the focal distance of the first lens group GR1 is f1, the back focus of the entire system is bf, and the curvature radius of the image side face of the lens of the first lens group GR1 closest to the object side is Rf2, and the curvature radius of image side face of the second lens group GR2 closest to the image side is Rr2, 0.7
