<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultraviolet-absorbing colorless toner, a writing system using the same, and a method for visualizing an ultraviolet fluorescent image. <P>SOLUTION: The ultraviolet-absorbing colorless toner is accommodated in an electrophotographic printer and a pattern which reads like CEM is printed for experiment in 13 2-cm-squares arranged crosswise from A to M and 9 2-cm-squares arranged lengthwise from 1 to 9. The pattern is invisible, it is irradiated with ultraviolet light having a peak wavelength of 365 nm from an ultraviolet lamp 38, and reflected ultraviolet light is detected with an ultraviolet sensor 39. An average of ultraviolet reflection intensities of the printed parts with the ultraviolet-absorbing toner shown by hatching is 6.4 μW/cm<SP>2</SP>, an average of ultraviolet reflection intensities of the non-printed parts shown in blank is 24.5 μW/cm<SP>2</SP>, which is about 4 times, and though all the squares are visually white, the printed parts with the ultraviolet-absorbing toner are easily and digitally discriminated from the non-printed parts by measuring the ultraviolet reflection intensities. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
