<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent soiling of the rear surface of a medium or the like, caused by transfer of liquid, even if the widths of the media are different. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid holding member 21 includes a plurality of recesses 23 (23a-23e), a plurality of liquid supply ports 24 arranged in the respective recesses 23 and a plurality of liquid discharge ports 25 arranged in the respective recesses 23 and further includes a plurality of liquid chambers 70 (70a-70e) arranged in the width direction W by abutting to an application surface of a liquid application member.
