PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus, such as a copying machine, a facsimile apparatus or a printer, which has a plurality of image bearers and performs transfer smoothly, while using a two-component developer including a relatively soft toner and a carrier, and to provide an image forming method using the image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus uses a plurality of pressers pressing receptors 11, which are arranged corresponding to the respective image bearers 20Y, 20M, 20C, 20BK and onto which toner images on the image bearers 20Y, 20M, 20C, 20BK are transferred, to the corresponding image bearers 20Y, 20M, 20C, 20BK at a predetermined pressure, and a two-component developer in which toner comprises a binder resin and an additive, wherein the additive in the toner has a burial rate of≥40%, and a pressure of the presser corresponding the image bearer 20BK bearing a black toner image among the image bearers 20Y, 20M, 20C, 20BK is made lower than those of the other pressers.
