<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader can determine a show-through image included in front-side images of a read document more surely than the prior arts. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to an image reader which includes a light source which illuminates a front side of a document with illumination light, and a photoelectric transducer which receives reflection light of the illumination light and transduces it into an electric signal, and generates image data representing the front-side image of the document based on an output signal of the photoelectric transducer. The image reader further includes an image processing section which detects a description direction of sentences included in the front-side image of the document on the basis of the image data and determines a show-through image included in the front-side image from the detected description direction of sentences. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT</p> |
