PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an umbrella which has increased strength by sturdily thickening the tip end of each rib in a part where the ribs and the tube are joined, and which reduces manufacturing cost through reduction of labor by greatly simplifying and shortening an assembling process compared with a conventional method. SOLUTION: The tip ends of the ribs are formed into a semi-circular shape 10, with a ring 4 fitted from above a required number of ribs 1 all together. In addition, the engaged part is sandwiched between a lower rib holder 3 and an upper rib holder 2 holding the part from below and from above, respectively, with the lower and upper rib holders 3 and 2 fixed to the tube, thus, the function of the ribs incidental to the opening and closing of the umbrella is maintained.
