The invention relates to the use of a seleno-L-cystine or a derivative thereof in an aqueous suspension of Ca(OH)2 or Mg(OH)2, for preparing an initial dispersion of seleno- L-cystine in said aqueous suspension, said seleno-L-cystine being liable to be fragmented under an appropriate concentration of O2 and to be used for the preparation of a selenium containing composite or compositions containing said composite.
