<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a reliable method for manufacturing a liquid crystal optical element, which can manufacture a liquid crystal optical element without causing extension of a seal into a valid diameter during the manufacturing process even if a liquid crystal drop step is adapted therefor. <P>SOLUTION: The method has: a seal forming step of forming a closed ring shaped ultraviolet curable seal on a first transparent substrate; a liquid crystal drop step of dropping liquid crystal within an area surrounded by the seal; and a seal main curing step of mainly curing the seal after bonding a second transparent substrate to the first transparent substrate through the seal while maintaining a predetermined gap. A seal temporary curing step of temporarily curing a partial area of the seal by irradiating the inside area of the seal with ultraviolet ray through a mask having a light shielding part is performed between the seal forming step and the liquid crystal dropping step. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
