<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dielectric ceramic exhibiting temperature characteristic of capacitance satisfying the X5R characteristics of the EIA standard even when a dielectric ceramic layer is made thin in a multilayer ceramic capacitor and having high insulation resistance at a high temperature and high temperature load life characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: In the multilayer ceramic capacitor 1, the dielectric ceramic layer 2 is composed of the following dielectric ceramic, that essentially consists of ABO<SB>3</SB>(A necessarily contains Ba and can contain at least one of Ca and Sr, B necessarily contains Ti and occasionally contains at least one of Zr and Hf) and contains V and at least one kind selected from Mn, Fe, Cu, Mg, Ni, Cr and Co as accessory constituent.
