<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pharmaceutical composition and an additive to health-promoting food of a simple structure which have an effect on the activity of an NMDA-type glutamic acid receptor. <P>SOLUTION: The pharmaceutical composition and the additive to health-promoting food containing a dipeptide of which one amino acid is selected from the group consisting of glycine, glutamic acid, aspartic acid and serine inhibit the activity of the NMDA-type glutamic acid receptor or activate the NMDA-type glutamic acid receptor.
