The correction coefficient KF is set at a value obtained by correcting a standard correction coefficient FbaseA(KFbaseD) corresponding to a standard compression ratio so that a degree of correction is reduced as the compression ratioεis larger than the standard compression ratio. As the compression ratioεis larger than the standard compression ratio, a real degree of change in the quantity of adhered fuel becomes smaller than a degree corresponding to the standard compression ratio. Consequently, the correction coefficient KF becomes a value corresponding to the real degree of change in the quantity of adhered fuel corresponding to the compression ratioε, and excessive correction of the basic fuel injection quantity Fbase can be restricted.
