Provided is an image display device wherein a display direction of an image can be correctly set depending on the intention of a user. When the user holds a cellular phone with the side of a first switch key (8) in front of the user, the user is to press the first switch key (8). When the first switch key (8) is pressed by the user, a CPU (100) makes a display image to be displayed such that the display direction is in a first direction where the first switch key (8) is at the bottom. When the user holds the cellular phone with the side of a second switch key (9) in front of the user, the user is to press the second switch key (9). When the second switch key (9) is pressed by the user, the CPU (100) makes a display image to be displayed such that the display direction is in a second direction where the second switch key (9) is at the bottom.
