The unit (1) has a control element (20) performing a joystick function including multiple control directions. A movement direction of the joystick function is assigned to a control area of the control element. The control element is configured in such a manner that a translation movement parallel to a given axis of rotation (2) is realizable for selection of one of the control directions of the joystick function at the corresponding control area of the control element, and movements of the control element perpendicular to the axis of rotation are blocked.
