The assistance device has an output device with two optical output units and acoustic output units. One of the optical output units displays a distance of a vehicle to an obstacle in a rear area of the vehicle in an internal mirror. The optical output unit (9) displays a distance of the vehicle to obstacle in an area residing before the vehicle in a left external mirror (10) and a right external mirror (11). The output unit (9) is arranged in frames (10.1, 11.1) and mirror surfaces (10.2, 11.2) of the external mirrors.
