The method involves mounting a reference component (10) in a mounting device, and photo-optically documenting hollow spaces (24a-24c) of the component as a reference component photo by a digital camera. A to-be-inspected component i.e. motor vehicle pedal, is mounted in the mounting device analogous to the mounted reference component. Hollow spaces of the to-be-inspected component are photo-optically documented as a to-be-inspected component photo by the camera. The photos are compared with each other by a photo processing software. An independent claim is also included for a device for inspection of a hollow space in a component.
