SELF-NEUTRALIZING PERMANENT WAVE COMPOSITION AND METHOD THEREFOR

By combining specially paired thiols and disulfides in a single composition, the permanent waving of a head of hair is achieved in a single step, with the need for the separate application of an oxidizing or neutralizing agent being completely eliminated. The requisite ingredients of the present invention may be provided in a formulation as sold or, if desired, can be formed in situ, by combining two complementary agents together at the time of use. By employing the single-step permanent waving lotion of the present invention, excellent permanent waving results are consistently attained with self-neutralization or combined reduction and oxidation.
