<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a retractor for a seat belt capable of instantly retracting a belt by transmitting the force of a pretensioner to a spindle via torsion bars and capable of preventing the torsion bar from being twisted off by regulating the torsion of the torsion bar when winding the seat belt. <P>SOLUTION: A force transmission path in which the pretensioner 15 is connected with the spindle 61 via the torsion bars 65, 66 having first and second shaft parts is comprised. A torsion regulation mechanism 90 is provided in the torsion bar 65. The rotation of the torsion bar 65 is regulated when the torsion bar 65 reaches a predetermined torsion angle (the number of torsion rotations) since the switch between a first shaft part 65 and a second shaft 66 is delayed when winding the seat belt. Thus, the increase in the number of torsion rotations of the torsion bar 65 is regulated, and the torsion bars 65 is prevented from being twisted off.
