PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a small, lightweight and inexpensive braking structure of an opening/closing machine for opening and closing a shield material at a high speed to expedite passage through an opening part, by which a contact state of a brake shoe is improved in a stepwise manner for effective stopping. SOLUTION: A brake section 9 includes a pair of circularly-arranged right and left linings 19 abutting on a rotary drum 14 pivoted to a motor shaft 10 of a drive motor part 8, and an armed rod 23 moving the linings 19. The rod 23 has an arm pin 17 in the center to allow the linings 19 to swing, an excitation part 24 receiving a signal from a detection part 30, inclining the rod 23 and canceling the braking, and a brake spring 26 inclining the rod 23 in the direction of canceling the braking by an urging force for braking.
