PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a tunnel construction method capable of preventing a decrease in construction speed while keeping the cost of a segment low. SOLUTION: In this tunnel construction method, a rail 5 is sequentially laid on an excavated surface 4 of a tunnel hole 3 while the tunnel hole 3 is formed by sequentially excavating natural ground 2; and the segment 7 is sequentially assembled along the excavation-direction rear excavated surface 4 by segment assembling equipment 6 which is travelably arranged on the rail 5, so that a tunnel wall 8 can be constructed.
