A surface mounted resistor and a printed circuit board with the resistor mounted thereon are provided. The resistor comprises a substrate (21) and a protective layer. One resistance layer (25) and two inner electrode conduction bands (29) are provided on the surface of the substrate (21). The resistance layer (25) and the inner electrode conduction band (29) are electrically connected with each other. The protective layer intersects with the inner electrode conduction band (29) at an intersecting point (a). The outermost layer (233) of an end electrode intersects with the protective layer at an intersecting point (b). The linear distance between the two intersecting points (a,b) is d1. The thickness of the protective layer at the intersecting point (b) with the outermost layer (233) of the end electrode is d2. The thickness of the intermediate layer of the end electrode is d3. d1 is not less than 20µm. d2 is not less than 3µm. d3 is not less than 4µm. As the end electrode extends upward along the protective layer, H2S in the air is difficult to react with the inner electrode conduction bands (29).
