<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a Chien search device and a Chien search method, by which a Chien search processing speed is accelerated. <P>SOLUTION: The Chien search device for calculating an error position in the case of correcting an error included in data read from a nonvolatile memory includes a first processing part for searching an error position in an error correction target area of input data in at least one-bit unit, and a second processing part for processing a plurality of bits at a time in the area outside the error correction target of the input data. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT |
