PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lane position detecting system for automatically performing optimal white line detection processing in accordance with various road conditions and road environments. SOLUTION: This lane position detecting system 20 converts an image obtained by imaging a road surface by an on-vehicle camera 21, into a bird's-eye view image, obtains a brightness profile to a perpendicular direction to the traveling direction of a vehicle by integrating the brightness of the bird's-eye view image in parallel with the traveling direction, and performs filtering processing to the brightness profile to detect the position of a white line. The lane position detecting system 20 determines the road surface conditions based on information of sensors installed on the vehicle, and changes the high/low degree of cut-off frequency of a filter used in the filtering processing based on the determined road surface conditions.
