PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display can suppress firing of liquid crystal and deterioration of color reproducibility. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display 100 includes a pixel 22 including liquid crystal 224, a pixel electrode 222 applying voltage to the liquid crystal 224 and a common electrode 223, a display part 2 where a plurality of pixels 22 are arranged in a matrix, and an even-numbered LEDs 26. The pixel 22 is driven in accordance with emitted light successively emitted by the even-numbered LEDs 26. The liquid crystal display 100 is constituted so that an applying direction of voltage to drive the liquid crystal 224 may be switched in each of vertical scanning periods as many as the even-numbered LEDs 26.
