PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope system allowing a doctor to appropriately detect what kind of treatment instrument for an endoscope which he/she actually has inserted in a body, and to take an optimal response even if a wrong treatment instrument has been inserted therein. SOLUTION: At least a part of the treatment instrument for an endoscope is attached with identification information for identifying the treatment instrument, analyzes an image captured by the endoscope to extract/recognize the identification information and displays the information of the identification information on a monitor or the like.
