A terminal and a method for automatically converting figures to Korean characters are provided to convert numbers or special characters into Korean characters without pressing a converting button for the enter into Korean character input mode from a numeral or special character input mode. The numbers or special symbols on each button in a terminal(100) are established in a keyboard information database(120). In addition, the writing information for Korean characters is stored in the keyboard information database. A converter(160) converts the combination of the inputted number or special symbol into Korean characters based on the writing information. A communication module(170) is connected to a wired/wireless exchange through a wired/wireless network, and transfers a call connection request signal for the receiver of the caller to an exchange center.
