<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an internal flaw detector capable of continuously and accurately detecting an internal flaw existing in a continuously conveyed band- shaped body by means of a simple device structure. SOLUTION: In this internal flaw detector, an internal flaw in a steel band 1 is continuously inspected by means of an ultrasonic flaw detector, while the steel band 1 is conveyed continuously. This internal flaw detector is provided with a liquid tank 4 storing water 6, conveying rolls 7-10 guiding the steel band 1 so as to pass it through the water 6, and the pulse echo technique ultrasonic flaw detector arranged in the from of transmission arrangement to inspect the steel band 1 part immersed in the water 6 with out making contact for flaw detection by means of a detection unit 20 arranged in the water 6. Among the conveying rolls, the conveying rolls 8 and 9 touching the water 6 are immersed completely in the water 6. Shields 30 and 31 are arranged between the fully immersed conveying rolls 8 and 9 and a probe 20 to prevent foams in the water 6 from moving to the probe 20 side.</p> |
