A display device for displaying a still image with lower power and a method thereof are provided to make the external appearance of a place where the display device is installed better and increase the space utilization by displaying the still image in the same area in which the image display is stopped. A display device(100) comprises a display panel(110), an electronic paper(122) and a processor. The display panel includes a screen in which an image is displayed. The electronic paper is unfolded so that the screen of the display panel can be covered when the image display by the display panel is interrupted. The processor applies an electric signal so that the still image can be displayed on the unfolded electronic paper.
