PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an economical and user friendly air conditioner speedily air conditioning without consuming useless energy by setting the temperature difference not spoiling the amenity between an indoor area which a user likes and the other indoor areas. SOLUTION: This air conditioner is provided with an air conditioner main body for air conditioning the inside of a room, each infrared sensor provided in the air conditioner main body and detecting the amount of infrared radiation from each area of the inside of the room, an air conditioning control device controlling at least one of the wind direction, the wind temperature and the flow rate of the air conditioner main body according to the amount of infrared radiation from each area from each of the sensors, and a remote control controlling the operation of the air conditioning control device. The air conditioning control device air conditions so that the amount of infrared radiation of the area selected by an air conditioning area selection switch provided on the remote control is in the amount of infrared radiation set in advance.
