A dry dual clutch in a dual clutch transmission has a driving plate 102 with a cavity 112 which receives thermally conductive element or brush 104 that is arranged to brush or rub against a separate cooled part 106 of the clutch by an action of a spring 108. The conductive element or brush 104 may be copper, sintered bronze or a composite of carbon and copper. Alternative the conductive element 104 may be fixed to an exterior of the driving plate (see fig 2). The conductive element 104 may form part of an annular array of brush elements (202, fig 3). Applied pressure from the conductive element may be responsive to the temperature of the plate via a bi-metallic element. For example, the conductive element 105 may be operable to move to an active, rubbing position from a non-rubbing position under predetermined temperature conditions. Similar brushes can be incorporated into bearing assemblies for clutches and brakes. |
