The post mounting footing 1 comprises a lower part 5; an upper part 3 hinge mounted to the lower part; wherein in a first position the upper and lower parts are inhibited from hinging, and in a second position clearance between the upper and lower parts is enabled so as to permit hinging. The upper part may include a tongue 8 having a slot 10 along which a pivot rod 13 engaged with the lower part is movable. The lower part may include a recess 7 in which the tongue is disposed when in the first position. The upper part may rest in load bearing contact with the lower part and be displaced upwardly of the lower part in order to move from the first position to the second position. A fixing bolt 12 may be provided to obstruct movement of the pivot rod along the slot and so lock the post mounting footing in either the first or second position. The post mounting footing may be incorporated in a guardrail or barrier system. Another type of post mounting footing is also claimed. |
