A fuel cell stack is provided to cope with the flooding and dry out generated by the temperature distribution of the laminated direction under the natural diffusion or the flow of a minimum amount of an oxidant. A fuel cell stack comprises a plurality of laminated fuel cell units. At least one fuel cell unit of the plurality of fuel cell units has an absorbent member(2) equipped with a side exposed to the air at the part where an oxidant channel formation member(3) is in contact with a separator(1). The area of the each surface exposed to the air of the absorbent member of the fuel cell unit which is relatively low temperature among the plurality of fuel cell units, is larger than that of the surface exposed to the air of the absorptive member of the fuel cell unit which is hot temperature. |
