The method involves covering a heat shield with a case to retain an assembling support (5) above the shield and to emerge an end of gearbox control cables (7) from the case towards the top. The assembling support is fixed on the case. Two small columns (6) are passed in two openings formed at a base of the support to establish a contact of a point of the support with the columns such that another point of the support prevents the rotation of the support by contacting with the columns, where the latter point is opposite to the former point with respect to the openings. An independent claim is also included for a device for assembling a high position gearbox control in a vehicle.
