522,441. Cutting webs. STRACHAN & HENSHAW, Ltd., SARGENT, T., and DUERDEN, S. Dec. 8, 1938, No. 35837. [Class 31 (i)] In a paper &c. bag making machine the tubular formed web A passed in flattened condition between draw rollers 1, 2 and the upper and lower halves of the paper tube are severed transversely at points spaced apart to allow for overlap by serrated cutting blades 5, 6 carried by revolving members 3, 4 which blades displace the web at the two points of engagement therewith and at the time when the web is under tension by the action of the faster rotating snatch rollers 7, 8 whereby the two halves of the web are severed. The blades are mounted for angular adjustment in their supporting discs 24 by means of curved spigots 26 engaged in curved slots 27 in the discs and for adjusting the lower blade during the running of ' the machine the spigots 26 are carried by a bar 25 having helical gear segments 29 meshing with gears 30 carried by a shaft 22 having a screw threaded part 32 working in a tapped hole in the supporting side frame and secured by a lock nut 34.
