The present invention relates to the use of a solution or dispersion, comprising (A) at least one polyaromatic compound carrying an acid group and/or salts of acid groups, (B) water, and (C) at least 2% by weight of at least one organic solvent that can be mixed with water as an adhesion promoter during the production of a composite, to a method for producing a composite comprising at least one gas diffusion electrode and at least one membrane, wherein the above solution or dispersion is used as an adhesion promoter, and to a composite comprising said adhesion promoter.
