Multi-layered, fluid-absorbing hygiene item for use in a piece of clothing, wherein the item comprises an outer layer, the outer layer comprises a layer of UV-cured adhesive material, wherein the adhesive material is cured through UV radiation from a liquid adhesive material precursor, wherein the adhesive material precursor has a viscosity of less than 5000 mPas at a temperature of no more than 80oC.
